I'm Jeffrey Ball, and I'm a part-time artist, based in the St. John's, NL, Canada, area.
I began drawing in my high school art classes, beginning with pencil /charcoal portraits, and have been drawing with these ever since. Portrait work remains my favorite subject. In addition to black and grey work, I have moved into a lot of colored pieces, using ink. I feel I have found my niche, predominately creating colorful pop art portraits.
Having a family, and working a full-time job, my art work started strictly as a hobby, and was put on the back burner for many years. Many years later, my mother-in-law received terrible news and was diagnosed with cancer; it was during this time, that I turned back to my artwork, as a stress relief / distraction.
I began sharing my work on my personal social media, and then opened new accounts, solely for my artwork. I had never intended to sell anything, or advertise, but in October 2018, I received a private message, inquiring about a Michael Jackson piece I had posted.
My Facebook and Instagram followers began to grow, and I started to get my work out in more public areas. I launched this website and online store.
I have also exhibited my art work at local coffee company, Jumping Bean (Elizabeth Avenue), as well as restaurant, Mustang Sally's (Torbay Road). I can't thank the owners enough, as their support has afforded me a great deal of exposure.
In a way, something pretty cool was launched out of a bad situation, as my mother-in-law's sickness, nudged me back to my art work. My mother-in-law has since earned her angel wings, and I know she's smiling down at me.
Thanks for stopping by, and I appreciate your support!
